Kashi - City of Light

One feels as if his/er tongue is on the fritz when it comes to expound Varanasi. This hallowed city is famous for its traditional yet eclectic culture. Kashi alias Varanasi is as old as hills reflecting the uninterrupted chains of ancient spiritual figure of the city.

Great spiritual masters appeared in the history of the ‘city of Shiva’ unveiling the face of eternity like Gautam Buddha, Ramananda, Kabir and so on. Varanasi epitomizes the true universality of spirit. The word ‘Kashi’ is defined as something which lights up the inner desire to be free and liberated soul; the city which best reflects the self.

Death and traditional music are two overpowering images of Kashi. It is believed that death in Kashi is liberation. Faith erases fear of dying. Moreover music gives wings to these philosophical truths. It exceeds individual beliefs and faiths.
